Grrrr.

My Macbook has been hijacked by Apple for a few days to have a screen transplant. Which throws a big ‘ol kink in my posting for the week. As in it’s going to be non-existant until I get my baby back in 5-7 business days. And oh yeah, there’s a holiday in there which means even longer. One word: awesome.

Off to be Grinchy…

Fort Awesome.

I’ve been promised a 60% chance of snow today.

But I have a feeling my own personal Fort Awesome is not in the near future.

I guess I’ll settle for whatever I can get.

Mememememe.

The lovely Tara of Nothing Elegant tapped me to talk about myself just a little bit more than I already manage to do on a daily basis. The usual seven random facts about yourself. But instead of tagging seven more people I’m going to leave it wide open instead – join in if you want and if not, well, that’s okay, too!

ONE.
I have a coat fetish.

Let’s put it this way, it’s only me living in my house, yet the coat closet in the entryway is packed. No worries though, there’s plenty of room on the closet shelves to accommodate my scarf and hat fetishes, too!

TWO.
My favorite flowers are Chinese poppies.

Closely followed by peonies. Closely followed by all other flowers.

THREE.
I love planning how I’m going to gift wrap Christmas gifts each year.

Which is followed very closely by disappointment when I remember that I have to pack and ship most of my presents to Pennsylvania where I’ll be for the holidays. Let’s just say from past experiences that most ideas don’t hold up that well.

FOUR.
I own at least five cameras.

A regular point and shoot. An Advantix which I don’t think they make the film for anymore. A Canon Rebel. A Polaroid. And a Sony touch-screen digital. I think I’ve got all the bases covered! Still holding out for that Holga though…

FIVE.
I’m a hopeless romantic.

Which causes some problems.

SIX.
I need to constantly be doing something.

Even when watching TV or a movie I’m still moving around or doing something else at the same time. I doubt it’s ADD, but think it’s something more more closely related to being antsy.

SEVEN.
Roadkill gives me goosebumps

Every single time I drive by one of those unlucky furry creatures I get chills. Even if it’s (gasp) the same one for days.

Messy Contentment.

You know how sometimes a day takes you by surprise? It doesn’t start out all that special and even a few things go wrong. It’s not perfect by any means and not is all right with the world. But for some reason you’re all smiley and content anyway? That’s today.

I Can’t Help It.

I made a conscious decision this morning to not blog about the election. To not beg anyone to go and vote because it’s not only a right, but a privilege. To keep my mouth shut and just absorb the day and what is surely to be a historical election.

But as you can see from these words I’ve broken that promise. It’s been broken because it’s too important and I’m filled with too much excitement and anticipation to be quiet. It feels like Christmas Eve and I’m left wondering whether I’m going to get the great art supply kit that I’ve talked about for the past two months. Or whether it’s the not so cool sweater my mom pointed out at the mall the other day that will be waiting for me under the tree.

I need the art supplies.

Happy Birthday to Me.

As of today the last year of my 20s is upon me. And I’m not dealing with it all that well. In all honesty I haven’t dealt with anything past 24 very well. I know it’s only a number. I know that age is a state of mind. Blah, blah, blah. At least I have the election to focus on!

Today:
• Voted first thing this morning – Obama winning would be the best birthday present ever. And make turning 29 not what I most remember about today.
• Chris brought in bagels to work from the most amazing shop. The pumpkin and french toast are incredible!
• My mom and step-dad sent me the most gorgeous arrangement of gerbera daisies!
• Friends and family have been texting and emailing all morning with the best birthday wishes.
• Happy Hour tonight with friends.
