Cuddled with The Peanut.

Visited Chirps & Cheers for the first time!
Spent lots of time outdoors with Piper.
Reminisced a little – that’s me and my dad!
Marveled at only having killed two perennials in my butterfly garden.

Happy Weekend

01/ A fold-out bookshelf, for when you want to be fancier than you are.
02/ Huge awesome/creepy marionettes!
03/ How to make a cardboard chandelier!
04/ A reusable drink carrier that’s perfect for picnic-ing.
05/ Abstract embroidery is a thing!
06/ 10,000 meters of yarn can be really beautiful.
07/ DIY marbled glassware that’s practically screaming for a good cocktail.
08/ Doubt many people are throwing this concrete business card away.
09/ Travel tic-tac-toe that’s perfect for roadtrips.

Boobs!

Boobs, boobs, boobs! Funny how three graphic circles from Wary Meyers can create one eye-popping end result. Choose from white, black, and for a limited time zombie. I’d go with zombie, it’s a no-brainer. (Er, no pun intended.)

Urban Geodes

You can go ahead and file Paige Smith’s urban geodes project under Things I Wish I’d Thought of First. Paige has been installing these metallic paper structures that mimic mineral formations in spaces in buildings and holes in pipes all around Los Angeles. The joy lies in their unexpectedness and the fact that they might be easily missed. Check out Paige’s map of their locations (12 so far) and hunt for them on your own! (via Got a Girl Crush)

Happy Weekend

01/ This week’s theme appears to be all things geometric, like these painted teacup planters.
02/ The Turducken of cheese balls!
03/ Rad overhead photographs form Alex MaLean.
04/ Cinco de Mayo isn’t too far away, check out these DIY geometric flag garlands!
05/ Make a sweet paper flower branch candelabra for your dining table.
06/ And here’s a more versatile downloadable geometric garland.
07/ Oh you know, just a full-sized projected laser keyboard. No biggie.
08/ One of the only things that can make cheese look better – this puzzle tray.
09/ I might eat my sushi more slowly if it were wrapped in this delicate laser cut seaweed.
10/ A countertop coffee brewer, yes!

Sue Tirrell

Animals + color + pattern = Sue Tirrell. The Montana sculptor and potter has this way of making all of the elements work in perfect harmony, and I can’t get enough. Sue’s pieces blend Western culture, folk art, and the contemporary perfectly. (via Design Sponge)

Amy Sia

I was recently introduced to the work of London-based textile print designer Amy Sia, and became immediately smitten with her bold, feminine, colorful work. It gives me such a happy feeling and leaves me smiling ear to ear. Lucky for me (and you), we can buy Amy’s work through Society6 as prints, canvases, and iPhone cases.

California Dreamin’

Have you had the chance to check out Kelly Lynn JonesCalifornia Collection yet? Because it’s amazing. You might well already know Kelly’s name from her online venture, Little Paper Planes. Which is exactly where you can find the collection in both small and large formats. I’m happiest when near the ocean, and now I have a little 36 x 36″ piece of it hanging over my bed at all times.

Balloon Bowls

Art that is simple and beautiful is my favorite, no matter the style. If you can’t create something that’s both clean and functional, then what’s the use? At least that’s my view. Maarten De Ceulaer creates bowls with synthetic plaster, food colorant, and balloons. The end result is mildly unpredictable, which I also love. New series are created based on demand, and you can pick up your own right here. In the meantime, check out this video on the making of Balloon Bowls.
