The Daily Eat: Hungarian Plum Dumplings.

Plums are one of my very favorite fruits, so I hope you all enjoy Plum Week!

These Hungarian Plum Dumplings have me looking forward to cooler days and rustling leaves. And getting out my big, bulky sweaters because if I eat many I'm going to be F-A-T-T-E-R!

Rise and Sigh Bed Sheets.

Designer Martina Carpelan took sleeping (or a lack thereof) to the next level with the creation of her Rise and Sigh bed sheets.

Rise and sigh is a collection of revealing bed sheets that plays with incidents often taking place in hotels. Different sleeping positions give different imprints on the sleepers’ body. The imprints give you a hint about last night’s atmosphere, suggest you what to do and tell things about you.The Rise and sigh collection consists of three embroidered bed sets; for the bachelor, for the love affair and for the one night stand.

Happy Weekend.

This is my goal this weekend. To get out of the funk I've been in for the past few weeks and be happy. I'm tired of feeling down, of feeling emotionally exhausted and physically worn out. So watch out happy, cause here I come. (NOTE: A valiant effort will be made, although positive results are not guaranteed.)

This Weekend:
• decorate for fall/Halloween
• chill at one of my fave dive bars with C & K
• make some sort of fall-ish dessert
• grocery shopping
• pay bills (UGH)
• buy stamps
• mail K, D & O birthday gifts
• clean up yard
• keep busy and be distracted
• try and get happy again

HAPPY WEEKEND!

I'm thinking a batch of these Apple Crumble Bars would be perfect for tailgating or a little fall picnic. YUM.

Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday and this is the first thing that's popped up on my October 31st radar this year - a skeleton serving set for the perfect fall salad.

So, so painfully true. I hate that sometimes. I wish I could change it or exert some sort of control, no matter how small.

Time Will Destroy You.

I had a bit of a reality check last Friday in the time department. As in we don't really have all that much of it to our name. Makes me love this Time Will Destroy You woodblock print that much more.

Folk Banner Letterpress Cards.

Old-timey vintage type is one of my (many) admitted weaknesses. These Folk Banner cards hit the spot - they're printed individually on a Vandercook letterpress, giving each that perfectly textured and nostalgic look.

The Daily Eat: Candy Apple Pie.

"Candy Apple Pie is the perfect dessert for this hazy liminal period between state fairs and harvest festivals, when you find yourself burning that Spiced Pumpkin candle in 90 degree weather."

Couldn't have said it better myself.

On the Rocks: Corkscrew.

Decidedly un- fall, the Corkscrew is my personal shove off to summer.

Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 oz light rum
- 1/2 oz dry vermouth
- 1/2 oz peach liqueur
- Squeeze of lime juice

Combine all four ingredients in a cocktail shaker and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with a twist of lime peel.

Pantone Fashion Color Report Spring 09.

A few weeks ago Pantone released their color predictions for Spring 09 and I have to say, I'm really in love with most of them.

"Spring traditionally evokes a sense of freshness and new beginnings, with sprouting shoots and blossoming flowers that inspire designers to breakout of the winter doldrums. Bright colors return to the top 10 list for spring ’09, as designers incorporate vibrant pops into their collections, yet temper the vibrancy with deeper, translucent or neutral tones."

I'm loving these line drawings by Robert Samuel Hanson. Nothing like animating something stationary to pique my interests and simultaneously freak me out. (Just a little.)

Herb Stand.

I've grown herbs before but always neglect to use them. And then I feel guilty. I love that the Herb Stand put herbs and scissors in the same place - making it way more probable that I'd use both. And that's not even the end of the functionality story - the pots are also easy to separate or attach to one another.

Cappuccio.

Swoon.

The Cappuccio is perfect for fall days when a hood/scarf is definitely in order. If only it weren't freakin' 85º here today. (Although the model is sporting a tank. Hmmmm....)

• CLEAN!

The Daily Eat: Capellini Caprese.

I really do enjoy cooking and baking, but most weeknights after work I really just want something easy. Which is one reason I look forward to getting my quarterly issue of Kraft Foods magazine. It's always busting at the seams with really good, fast recipes that are also healthy. This one for Capellini Caprese is in the latest issue and I can't wait to try it out. YUM!

Amy Atlas Events.

I know, I know. You've probably seen post after post lately exalting the beautiful dessert buffets created by Amy Atlas Events. But I couldn't help it - I just had to join the party. Seems that the monochromatic themes carried throughout are what really make it work.

Impossible.

It's how I feel this week really. And if you can be hurty and numb at the same time that's me, too. Oh, and don't forget the lack of appetite (maybe the only good thing) and crazy gag reflex thing I've got going on right now. (Insert perverted joke here.)

Thank you for your thoughts and comments this week - they really do mean the world to me!
